After covid, we saw a shift in how shows produce their episodes. Instead of several seasons with 20 episodes or more, we now get a couple seasons with only about 10 episodes.
I find this sad, but that’s not the idea I want to address.
Grey’s Anatomy has been around for just barely longer than I have; about 19 years now. It is something that in my younger teen years I became obsessed with and watched over and over and got so excited everytime a new episode came out. You could say I am a huge fan.
So it might be a shock when I say this, but they need to stop making more seasons and episodes, however, they are also at a point where this would not make sense.
For me, the series started going downhill when Alex Karev left in season 16. They are now on season 21.
I understand that Grey’s Anatomy is a popular show and that it probably makes a lot of money and so they want to keep making seasons. But it has felt forced for a while now. It has seemed like there is a lack of ideas and storylines.
However, in the 19th season, this changed. They introduced new interns. The story line follows close to the same ideas that the first couple of seasons followed with the original interns.
Personally, I think that this was a very smart move and it made me interested in the show again. With that being said, I think that it might also be time to end some of the other story lines.
I think that at this point in the story you cannot end the show because the new intern stories are still developing and unfinished. So my suggestion is that they create a spin-off show with the new interns and maybe a couple of the regular Grey’s cast so that their story can still continue but we don’t have to have all of the other unnecessary stories that feel forced.
