A Look Within the Class: Math Department

“This is my 8th year at PHS. I teach Algebra 1 and Honors Algebra 2. My favorite class to teach is Algebra 2. My favorite units are the ones with functions - quadratic, rational, exponential and logarithmic is the connections these functions have in the real world - especially the connections with science!”

“This is my 31st year at PHS. I teach Advanced Math and Algebra 2. It is too hard to choose my favorite class, I like them both for different reasons. I like the polynomial unit in Adv. Math because at the end of the chapter the students apply what they learned by making an equation for a roller coaster design.”

"This is my seventh year teaching at PHS. I currently teach Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus.  Each class has its own appeal, and I truly enjoy teaching each of them. “This is my 4th at PHS. I teach Geometry and Informal Geometry. I like to teach both of them for different reasons. In geometry I like when we get into finding the area of polygon informal and in Informal geometry, I like  the area of the rings of an archery target.”

“This is my 6th year at PHS. I teach Algebra A & B, I used to be a Special Ed teacher. I like to teach both of them. I like equations, factoring quadratics a lot, I like to watch the start to the finish, to see how the students review.”
