Phil Jay

Before Phil Jay was a school counselor, he was a teacher at PHS.

“This is my second year [as school counselor,] however previously I taught as a technology teacher at PHS for seven years,” he said.

Jay was also a school counselor at Lakeside Elementary.

He describes helping people thrive in challenging circumstances as the most uplifting aspect of his profession.

“Being in a helping profession is rewarding,” he said. “Helping students overcome barriers that are presented in their lives is what I do.”

Jay will move following the end of the school year.

“It’s not an easy decision [to the Overland Park/Olathe area] but its a positive one.”

He also recalls his time as a school counselor and is hopeful for others.

“It’s been rewarding,” Jay said. “I wish the best for everyone here.”
