Rolanda Root
Rolanda Root is currently teaching creative studio, intro to art, drawing, and independent study of fine art. She has been teaching for 14 years and has taught at five different schools. Root is certified to teach Art K-12. Her experience here at PHS so far has been good.
“I have enjoyed having so many students interested in drawing and painting. Every school is different based on culture and the community. I have to adapt to every school I teach because the student body is all a little different. Some districts have more developed art programs that feed into the high school and others do not so some students may have little experience entering high school beginning art classes. I have taught for small schools and a school twice the size of Pittsburg High. The larger schools have more selections in classes. For instance where I taught in Utah they had a watercolor and oil painting class separately. Here I teach one painting class covering both. I had to select which lessons were most important for students to gain a basic understanding of painting with different art mediums.” says Root.
