Pretzel Brownies

Okay, so I am finally caving in and sharing my famous pretzel brownie recipe with y’all. I have been bringing these brownies to school functions since freshman year and they have been a hit since. Now that I am finally sharing the recipe anyone will be able to make these delicious brownies and I might gain some newfound free time since I won’t be baking as much.

Ingredients:

2 sticks of butter (save the wrappers for greasing the pan so the brownies don’t stick)

5 ounces bittersweet chocolate

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla

3 large eggs

1 1/4 cups flour

3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

2 cups salted pretzels (This is a suggestion. I always sprinkle as many pretzels in as I see fit so there is no wrong or right amount.)

Directions:

Start out by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. In a medium saucepan melt the sticks of butter with the bittersweet chocolate on low heat and stir occasionally so the chocolate does not burn. Once melted sprinkle in the cocoa powder and whisk to combine. Once combined, remove the pan from heat and let sit for about 5 minutes.

While waiting for the mixture to cool butter the brownie pan with the leftover butter stick wrappers. Then crush a handful of pretzels and sprinkle them around the bottom of the brownie pan, making the pretzels even throughout.

After the chocolate and butter mixture has cooled add the chocolate mixture to a mixing bowl. Then add in the sugar and vanilla and stir. Next, one at a time stir in the eggs. Add in the flour and stir until halfway incorporated. Then add in the chocolate chips and stir thoroughly.

Once finished, pour the batter into the brownie pan. Then add more crushed pretzels to the brownie mixture placing them evenly on top.

Stick into the oven for around 20-30 minutes depending on your oven (mine takes around 25 minutes). Once the oven beeps, check with a toothpick to make sure they are not underdone.

FYI: Allow them to cool before cutting them or they might fall apart!

Final Step: Grab a nice cold glass of milk (or any other beverage you may like) and enjoy!
