Senior Hailey Denton tells the story of her high functioning anxiety.
Holding her hands together and looking straight ahead, senior Hailey Denton tries to distract herself from all of the negative thoughts running through her head. Denton was diagnosed with high functioning anxiety in eighth grade. “I get really anxious when I’m out of control of any situation,” Denton said. “In class, I can’t control how fast the teacher talks or how fast they go through their lesson… not a lot of teachers know that I have this because it’s not very outwardly expressed. Those are the hardest kinds of cases; the ones that know how to hide it the best, which is my situation.”
